Dear Tim Cook, Steve Jobs taught you nothing ...

Dear Tim Cook, Steve Jobs taught you nothing ...

Switching from iBooks Author to Pages 10.1 is the biggest defeat of my work commitment.

I seem to go back to the past, when, at the age of twenty, I was approaching the use of a personal computer, a 512k Macintosh with a 3.5 "floppy 400k capacity.
Do you remember Tim? You, on which Apple computer did you start?

But then, it was exciting for me to see and try the use of a heavy and unstable mouse but that unfortunately nevertheless created under the eyes of the improbable drawings that I showed enthusiastically to customers fascinated by the new thinking machine. And they bought. Yes, they bought smugly. But not because I knew how to sell them, they bought them because I made them understand that with the Macintosh they would save time and money. The good old and obsolete MacWrite. The MacDraft. MacDraw. With MacWrite I wrote my first poems. Later, with ClarisWorks. Then with AppleWorks I wrote my first novel, and then the refresher courses with specialists sent directly from Apple Computer Inc.
How beautiful! I left the house in the morning and returned in the evening completely renewed. And the smell of new equipment just taken out of the boxes. Unforgettable. They were the objects of desire. Anyone in their right mind would have wanted them to evolve. And then RadarCh, Wilma, Premiere, the competition from Word and Excel, AutoCad! Steve killed and then returned. There are things in everyone's life that cannot be erased.
It was 1987 when I started.

Today, July 15, 2020, I find myself here writing a review, or a letter, to Tim Cook, Apple CEO, because I find that the brand new Pages 10.1 has trashed iBooks Author. It has deprived him of his right to be, of his right to make things easy for us miserable human beings. It has taken away the right to give users of multimedia books the Check Tables, useful for children, teenagers and grandparents (!), The Interactive Tables, nice windows in which you can navigate while sitting in an armchair, the Scroll Bars, to give a different look to the book. Instead, it gave him the opportunity to link videos on Youtube and Vimeo, if you have an internet connection ... that a multimedia and interactive or multitouch book does not serve a beloved cock!

I do not need it. I don't need to go back 33 years ago.
I studied to get where I am. I have committed myself. I struggled. I have invested time and money.
And when Apple finally builds an incredibly easy-to-use App that immediately took me and brought me into an unreal and fantastic world (!), That's right for me, here (!) Comes an announcement that promises great things, an another fairy tale to share on social media, another WWDC event that will be the launching pad for who knows what great and shareable adventures. PAGES 10.1.

All that surrounds me is Apple. I look at the time and I realize that I have an accelerated beat. I look at who is calling me on my cell phone (but woe to call an iPhone cell phone!) And in the meantime Pippo has texted me on Whatsup. I look on my desk and I see my good old dear and working white eMac with System7 that tears in seeing me angry because I no longer use ClarisWorks to write my multitouch books ... Now the eMac will be laughing under his mustache while I am pissed off with Tim Cook because he forgot Steve Jobs' teachings. He forgot that an Apple user's hand must have a cleared path. The hand of an Apple user must know that he will be able to work better than the others because he has a system and Apps that make life easy for him.

Yes, I'm angry!

Yes, I'm angry!

Yes, I'm angry!

Yes, I'm angry!

Yes, I'm angry!

Dear Tim Cook,
I don't know how you thought of dropping perfection.
I don't know how you happened to forget Steve and his magical teachings.

A me non serve. A me non serve ritornare a 33 anni fa.
Io ho studiato per arrivare dove sono. Mi sono impegnata. Ho faticato. Ho investito tempo e denaro.
